Lost & Found

Log every found item the moment it reaches reception: where it was, what it is, who found it, the shelf or the safe and its tag number. Follow it until it goes back to the guest, in person or by post, or to the police, to charity or the bin, with the keep-until date of each item, the ones due for a decision, where most things are left, a reply to the guest to copy and a tag label to print.

1 · Log a found item

Item ID:

Only when the item clearly belongs to a guest. Write the name you need to return it, nothing more, and remove it once the case is closed.

Paste from Excel or CSV

One row per item, columns in this order: date, time, area, room, category, description, value (low, medium, high), found by, stored in, tag number, guest, status. Tabs, semicolons or commas all work, and a header row is skipped.

2 · Settings

Empty boxes use the defaults shown. These are defaults, not the law. Your house rules and local law decide how long an item is kept and where it goes; in Germany a find worth more than 10 euros is reported to the lost property office (Fundbüro) of the town.

3 · Register

No found items in the register yet. Add the first one above, paste from Excel, or .

4 · Item: next step, reply and tag label

Pick an item in the register with Open, or add one above.
